Ms. Oketch - H.O.D.
The languages department is headed by Ms. Charity Oketch. The school offers two languages: English and Kiswahili. We hope to venture into French in the near future as soon as we get the required resources.
This department has seven regular teachers but from time to time we get teachers on teaching practice.
The teachers of English in this school include:
Ms. Charity Oketch
Mrs Patricia Mulyanga
Ms. Elizabeth Muathe.
Those who teach Kiswahili include:
Since the year 2012 when the school sat for the national examinations for the first time, English has been performing exemplarily well. In 2012, this subject topped the school with a mean of 6.7 C+.
Out of the three times the school has sat for national examinations, English has topped twice.
Kiswahili equally performs well and so far, its performance has never been below the school mean.
The department has a language policy which keeps it going. The policy states that English shall be spoken from Monday to Wednesday while Kiswahili shall be spoken from Thursday to Saturday. Any student who fails to adhere to this is sent home to bring the day’s newspaper. They buy Daily Nation or Standard for Monday to Wednesday and Taifa Leo for Thursday to Saturday.
We are proud of our students because they love our subjects and both languages have been branded boosters when it comes to performance.
Below is a summary of our performance in English and Kiswahili since the year 2012
